UFE Showdown 2011

UFE Showdown proved to be, indeed, an awesome showdown of great physiques. From lots of incredible first-timers who joined the ranks of UFE during the OPEN show to the best of the best going head to head for a chance to become a UFE PRO during the ELITE show, it was non-stop fitness action!

10am OPEN Show

The Open show in the morning brought some UFE veterans to the stage in addition to lots of new competitors. Maggie Watson had competed with UFE in spring of 2009 and, at that point, had qualified for Elite status, but let it lapse and was forced to requalify in the Open show and that she did with a dominant performance in the Fitness Model category. First time competitor Mike O’Brien came out of nowhere to rock the stage and take home first prize in Male Fitness Model. Another first timer, Tara Borisenko-Kim took the stage and simply dazzled her way to first place in the Figure category. Perhaps one of the most amazing stories of the morning was Leanne Simourd. Last year, Leanne had finished 11th out of 17 competitors. However, this only made her resolve stronger. She ordered the judges report, studied a few comments in particular and came back to dominate the Bikini category in the morning. It was noted by UFE President, Sean Everingham that she didn’t even look like the same person! Thanks to all competitors in the Open show. It was nice to see some familiar faces coming back to the UFE stage and it was a privilege to welcome many new faces. If you kicked some ass, then congratulations to you. If you didn’t place the way you wanted to, let it make your resolve stronger and come back better than ever next show much like Leanne did.

6pm ELITE Show

Being UFE’s first time running an Elite show outside of our main event in November, the competition was relatively small, but don’t mistake that for weak. The competitors that came to the stage once again proved that the best of the best in natural fitness bring their game to the UFE stage. It was stellar competition as UFE Spring Bash Fitness champ, Missy Farrell took on UFE Chaos champ Kim Chartrand in the Elite Fitness category with Kim JUST edging out Missy for the $500 prize, making Kim UFE’s youngest eligible PRO competitor at just 21 years old. However, Missy “Hardcore” Farrell, at just 22 years old earned her PRO card in Fitness as well with her 2nd place finish, but ALSO WON the Elite Figure category, taking home a $500 cash prize and becoming only the 3rd UFE athlete to be eligible for PRO status in 2 different categories. Almost unbelievably, Mike O’Brien and Brandon Corbett, both FIRST TIMERS stormed through the competition in the morning Open show and then BOTH took home 1st place in their respective categories, earning them both UFE PRO eligibility and $500 cash each! The fast paced show was full of action and edge-of-your-seat drama as people anxiously awaited the announcement of our newest eligible PROs among some amazing competition so without further adieu, here are the results:

** These competitors are now UFE eligible PROs!! To become UFE PROs they must first sign the UFE PRO contract. These contracts will be sent out in advance to each competitor and will be signed (should they choose to) at the UFE North American Championships on November 12th in Hamilton during a televised contract signing to be broadcast on Rogers TV to 3 million potential viewers with another station to confirm their attendance shortly which would bring viewership up to 4 million potential viewers! Once their contract is signed, the UFE PROs will be given the most lavish PRO cards in the industry, silver plated metal cards! They will compete on the most electrifying stage ever seen in natural fitness, surpassing that of even the Olympia! They will be competing for the most lucrative prize packages in all of natural fitness worth $10,000 each and including a $2500 CASH prize and a 1 year supplement contract with our Title Sponsors, Revolution Nutrition! Also included will be a $2500 custom body sculpt courtesy of Eaglewood Sculpts and a photoshoot with a top industry photographer for submission into various magazines!
